Loretta J. Proffit, 76, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born on January 24, 1948 in Sedalia, MO, a daughter of Frederick and Mary (Monroe) Eads. On November 19, 1994 she married Stephen Proffit who survives of the home.
Loretta worked for many years at Lamy's Manufacturing and then Waterloo where she retired in 2007. She was a member of the Sedalia VFW. Loretta enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and the time she spent with her family.
Survivors include her husband Stephen; two sons, Henry Smith of Sedalia, John Smith (Nancy) of Windsor; four grandchildren, Carmella Gray (Joshua), Samantha Smith, John Smith, Jr., and James Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Michael Smith, Cheyenne Coonce, Jeremy Smith, Hayden Smith, Safire Smith, Desiray Montez, Lukas Smith, Joshua Smith, Jr., Kamern Smith and Kayson Smith; one great-great-grandchild, Ronnie Smith; one sister-in-law, Cher Eads; one brother-in-law, Kenny Schick; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of her parents she was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
