Lydia A. Hopkins

Lydia Ann Hopkins, 77, of Euless, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.

She was born January 9, 1940, in Galveston, Texas, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Ethelee Madden Gilbert.

She was united in marriage to Terrell “Pete” Hopkins on May 6, 1962, in Weatherford, Texas.

Lydia was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved the Lord and was compassionate, giving and selfless. She will be remembered for her big heart.

She enjoyed crafts, singing and horticulture, and was known for her green thumb.

She worked as a seamstress for Williamson Dickies, Ft. Worth, Texas.

Lydia’s husband, Pete, was a disabled veteran and although she was not a veteran, she honored and supported those who served.

She is survived by two children, Jean Griffitt, of Euless, Texas, and Randy Ziriax (Cheryl), of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Stacey Griffitt, Celeste Fox, Amber Griffitt, Melanie Ziriax and Rebecca Ziriax; nine great-grandchildren, Katherine, Abigail, Jacob, Zacery, Destiny, Bralea, Austin, Dallas and Austin S.; a great-great-grandson, Corbyn; a brother, Ted Gilbert; a niece, Deborah; and a nephew, Dan.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A celebration of life for her Pilot Grove family will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the Clear Creek General Store.

A memorial service will be at a later date in Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
