Mae Binnie

October 7, 1940 — December 8, 2024

Sedalia

Mae Bressa Binnie, 84, of Sedalia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Born on October 7, 1940, in Windsor, Missouri, Mae was the daughter of Hap Yeager, and Bessie Kathleen (Cooper) and Leonard Metscher. On July 15, 1961, she married James Collin Binnie, Sr., in Independence, Missouri, and together they built a loving home and family.

Mae was deeply devoted to her faith and her family. She lived by the words of Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." She and Jim lovingly raised six children, and one of Mae's greatest joys was seeing her family gathered together in church. She was a member of Englewood Assembly of God in Independence.

As a homemaker, Mae's love and care extended to every aspect of her home. She was known for her cooking, sewing, and hospitality, sharing homemade treats in gift baskets at Christmastime. Mae had a beautiful singing voice and created a CD of her songs, which she shared with her family.

Mae will be remembered for her sweet spirit, generosity, and timeless elegance. She had a love for thrifting and enjoyed hunting for treasures at garage sales. A fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, she also had a special fondness for the color red, which reflected her vibrant personality.

Mae's legacy will live on through the memories she created and the love she so freely gave. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory and the example of faith, love, and service she set before them.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by six children, Chris Binnie (Vickie), of Warsaw, Tammy Eckerle (David), of Branson West, Jimmie Binnie Jr. (Debbie), of Urbandale, IA, Kim Binnie (fiancé, Terry), of Sedalia, Donald Binnie (Shelly), of Sedalia, and Melissa Stanislawski, of Bono, AR; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim, Roger, Larry, Randy, Steve, John, Pam, and Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, D.J.; a granddaughter, Erica; and great-grandson, Ayden.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Millsap, Joshua Millsap, Jimmie Binnie III, Jordan Binnie, Michael Talley, Michael Eckerle, and Carlton Stanislawski.

Memorials are suggested to the family, with checks made to James Binnie, in care of Heckart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 434, Sedalia, MO 65302, or at the link below.
