Magdalena Catherine Hostetler, of Otterville, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and one day.
Mrs. Hostetler was born on February 1, 1931, at Shelbyville, Illinois, to Amandus and Cora Hostetler.
On April 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lester Hostetler. They were married for over 67 years and were blessed with ten children.
She is survived by nine of her children: Larry and wife Susie, Darlene and husband Douglas Christner, Raymond and wife Ruth Ann, Judith and husband Lester Kempf, all of the Pocahontas, Arkansas, community; Marvin and wife Viola, Delbert and wife Kathy, Corene and husband Luke Knox, Marion and wife Alice, all of the Sedalia, Missouri, community; Emily and husband Frank Kempf of Mena, Arkansas. She is also survived by 65 grandchildren, 194 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester on July 7, 2017, and 42 years ago on October 1, 1980, her daughter Lyla was killed in a car accident. Also preceding her in death are one daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hostetler was a member of the Olive Hill Amish Mennonite Church. She was blessed with fairly good health up to the time of her stroke, (less than two weeks prior to her death) and was still able to attend regularly.
Lena was a very sweet lady; one who was always thinking of others. She enjoyed helping her children and grandchildren with their work. At one time she regularly volunteered at Open Door Thrift Shop.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Olive Hill A.M. School.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Olive Hill A.M. Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
