Margaret Elizabeth Whitcomb, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday evening, November 8, 2016, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born October 20, 1922, in Carrollton, daughter of Clayborn Austin and Hazel Maple White Winfrey.
On December 22, 1941, in St. Joseph, she was married to Edward Lee “Buck” Whitcomb, who preceded her in death on January 29, 1964.
Mrs. Whitcomb worked as head dietician for Carroll County Schools. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge 260 LEA, and Jolly Elders. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. She will be remembered as a caring and loving lady who had a heart of gold. She especially loved her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Randall Whitcomb (Susan), of Sedalia, and Clark Whitcomb (Claudia), of Ft. Collins, CO; a daughter, Barbara Bell (Larry), of Kingston Springs, TN; nine grandchildren, Emily Esselman, Ashley Pyle, Travis Whitcomb, Chelsea Dunning, Tyler Whitcomb, Kristoffer Richards, Amanda Bell, Brianna Bell and Ben Whitcomb; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clayborn Whitcomb; a daughter, Hazel Piper; and two grandchildren, Preston Thomas and Diana Short.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating.
Casket bearers will be grandsons.
Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
