Marian Elizabeth McCarty, 98, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Sedalia.
She was born August 12, 1921, in Sedalia, daughter of George Thomas and Etta Edith (Kendrick) Murphy, who preceded her in death.
On December 27, 1941, in Green Ridge, she married Ralph Wilbur McCarty, who died September 26, 1952.
Marian was a graduate of Green Ridge High School and attended Central Methodist College, St. Louis Business School and State Fair Community College. She worked for the Social Security Administration.
Marian was an active member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, N.A.R.F.E., the Green Ridge Garden Club, SOROSIS, Red Cross and was an avid Bridge player.
She enjoyed watercolor painting, gardening and decorating. Her life was centered around her family.
Surviving are three children, Susan Elizabeth Daniels (Pete), of Sedalia, George Michael “Mike” McCarty (Nancy), of Golden, CO, and Gayle Gerber (John), of Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren, Christopher McCarty, Cara McCarty Pool, and Molly Gerber Henley; three great-grandchildren, Timothy McCarty, P.J. McCarty and Hattie Henley; a brother-in-law, Bob McCarty (Mary), of Sedalia; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, SEPTEMBER 14, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Hughes officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Heckart Family Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Broadway Presbyterian Church.
