In Loving Memory…
Marjorie Helen Uhr, 97, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Four Seasons Living Center.
She was born September 29, 1916, in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Edwin F. and Lucy Mae Frazie Turner. On October 10, 1937, in Republic, she married Robert Douglas Uhr, who preceded her in death on June 28, 2004.
Marjorie graduated from Central High School and Southwest Missouri State University, both in Springfield. She worked in the office at SMSU as acting registrar, before moving to Sedalia. She taught typing at Smith-Cotton High School for many years.
She was an active member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where she had served on the session and as a deacon. She was past president of the Mark Twain PTA and past president of CTA. She was a member of Sorosis, the MO Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Omega Chapter. She had worked with the Brownies and Scouts.
Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Anne White, of Cheyenne, WY, and Sue Ellen Boehne, and her husband, Dennis, of Joplin; two grandsons, Joe White and Sean White, both of Eldon; and two nephews, Doug Mitchell, of Springfield, and John Damgaard, of Santa Fe, NM.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Edwin Turner; and two sisters, Juanita Mitchell and Genevieve Crites.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 3, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rob Hughes officiating.
Honorary casket bearers will be Dennis Boehne, Doug Mitchell, Joe White, Sean White and John Damgaard.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, at Heckart Funeral Home.
