Mary Ann Holden, 85, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born March 31, 1933, in Pettis County, MO, daughter of Frank Jackson and Jewel Catherine (McCutchen) Yeater.

On June 26, 1951, in Mountain Home, AR, she married James H. Holden, who preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.

Mary Ann graduated from the first class of the LPN program at State Fair Community College in 1969. She earned her RN degree from Lincoln University in 1972. Later she earned a B.S. in Education from CMSU in 1985. She worked at Bothwell Hospital as the head nurse in the nursery and later in infection control. Then she was a community nurse at the Pettis County Health Center until she retired. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and sewing. Her embroidery work won a couple awards at the Missouri State Fair. She was known for her crazy quilt stockings. She loved her West Highland Terriers.

Surviving are five children: Susan Holden, Beth Ann Cole, of Shenandoah, IA, Kate Holden, of Colorado Springs, CO, MJ Calise (husband, Dana), of Ridgefield, WA, and James Holden, of Sedalia; six grandchildren: Ryan and Andy Casserly, Scott and Sara Cole, Lauren Rose, and Chloe Holden Newell; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Rhoads.

A private family ceremony will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
