Mary Ann (Hanning) Wells, 79, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Warsaw Health and Rehab.
She was born October 26, 1943, in Sedalia, daughter of the late William and Emma (White) Hanning. On December 28, 1996, she was married to Bobby Gene Wells, who survives.
Mary Ann worked in nursing and caregiving, and worked her entire life.
She was a Baptist by faith and devoted her heart to the Lord. She went out of her way to help others, always saw the best in people and was determined to stay positive in tough situations.
Mary Ann and Bobby enjoyed traveling. She was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. She was joyful and enthusiastic about celebrating every holiday. She enjoyed hosting parties, including card parties.
In addition to her husband, Bobby, she is survived by a daughter, Angela Lewis, of Denver, CO; nieces, Mary Brunjes, of Sedalia, Cindy Lamastra, of Delaware, Karen Hovatter, Terry Carlisle, both of Maryland, and Peggy Chess, of Tennessee; a grandson, Tyler Lewis; a great niece, Heather Offield, whom she thought of as a grandchild; two step-daughters, niece, Diana Lee Hogg; nephew, Raymond “RD” Hanning Jr.; nephew, Sharon Whitehurse and Debra McSpadden; four step-grandchildren, Brandon Wells, Shawn McSpadden, Kelly Brush and Camie Tuner; and four step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Lewis; a grandson, David Lange; and six siblings, Charles Hanning, Raymond Hanning, Mildred Kramer, Jeannie Hanning, Dorothy Neal, Barbara Woodward and Janice Faye Hanning, who died at the age of two.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to C.A.T. (Cat Assistance Team) in care of the funeral home.
