Mary Christine Froehlich

Mary Christine “Christy” Froehlich, 60, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

She was born October 28, 1964, in Sedalia a daughter of Charles Wayne and Mary Rose (Sanders) Ross. 

Christy was Baptist by faith and attended East Sedalia Baptist Church. She was baptized as a teenager along with her sister at New Hope Baptist Church. 

She attended Sedalia schools until 8th grade and was a 1983 graduate of Smithton High School. After graduation, she lived in Georgia and Oklahoma. She returned to Smithton and worked several jobs throughout the years including KFC with her mother and the family motel business. She and Caryla left the motel business and opened a basket making business until her family needed them to return to work at the motel. She also did secretarial work at Margaret Ward’s insurance office among other jobs over the years. 

Christy enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, writing poetry and was a collector of many things. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and loved her dogs, P-Dog and Pugsley. She was also close to her cousins. Christy was very protective of her family and also enjoyed spoiling them, especially her brother and her nephew. 

Christy will be remembered for her love of family and her great sense of humor.

She is survived by her father, Charles Wayne Ross, Sr., of Smithton; siblings, Caryla Jean Watson and Charles Wayne Ross, Jr., (Sandra) all of Smithton; her companion, Richard Froehlich, of Sedalia; daughter, Lauren Ashley Whitfield; five grandchildren, Haleigh Marie Ross, Landon Lee (Cook) Davis, Courtney Louise (Cook) Davis, MiKayla Christine Cook and Jessen Charles Wall; nieces and nephews, Jacob Allen Watson (Jessica), Audree Paige Ross and Karlee Madyson Ross; and her dog, Pugsley.

Christy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Rose Ross; a brother, Carl Norman Ross; cousins, Betty Ann Mueller and Charlene Viebrock; and her beloved P-Dog.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Griffith officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ross, Nick Hyde, Shawn Brandt, Chad West, Brian Wallace, Kyle Hyde, David Rhoads and Patrick Perry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Ross, Bob Ross, Roger Mueller and Ray Ross.

Visitation will be noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

The family will establish a fund to help further Christy’s grandchildren’s education. Please make checks payable to Caryla Watson in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
