Mary Frances McCandless, 90, of Sedalia, passed on December 16, 2018, at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton, MO.
She was born September 6, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of William McKinley Williams, Sr. and Ruby Evelyn (Henderson) Williams.
Mary was raised and educated in Sedalia and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1946.
She married Robert Lee McCandless on November 6, 1947. A son, David Wayne, was born from their union and Mary’s highest priority was taking care of her family. She was always a caregiver to her family and very close to her sisters.
Mary was an active member of the Smithton United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was involved in the Meri-wed Class and teaching Sunday School. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, David (Carol); one sister, Carole Sue Lower (Billy Pace); three grandchildren, Caleb Andrew McCandless (Kerri), Jonah Nathanael McCandless, and Mary Elizabeth Hawk (Drew); and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Maxine, Geraldine, Josephine and Johnnie; and a brother, Billy. She was also met at the gate by her firstborn grandson, Joshua David McCandless.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
