Mary Ann Holman, 84, of Smithton, passed away, Monday, January 1, 2024 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove, MO.
She was born on February 3, 1939 the daughter of George and Emily (Miller) Adams. On August 27, 1960 at Emmett Ave. Baptist Church she married Carl Holman who survives of the home.
Mary Ann was a 1957 graduate of Smithton High School. She was valedictorian of her high school class winning a scholarship to Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. While at Warrensburg she received her teaching certificate and went on to teach at Hughesville and Smithton Schools. She then taught kindergarten at Calvary Baptist Church. Mary Ann was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and WMU. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling in a woman's league, painting, quilting, and she made baby booties for Bothwell Regional Health Center for all the newborn babies leaving the hospital.
Survivors include her husband Carl of 63 years; two sons, Kevin Holman of Drumright, OK, Steven Holman of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Shelley Westerdale (Jim) of Smithton, MO; one brother, Paul Adams of Smithton, MO; one sister-in-law, Helen Adams of Smithton, MO; six grandchildren, Matthew Westerdale (Serena), Ryan Westerdale, Kayla Williams (Chance), Elizabeth Azizov (Elnur), Joanna Holman (Austin) and Dannielle Holman; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of her parents Mary Ann was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence Eugene Adams, June Mitchell Adams, Richard Adams, and George Allen Adams.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salem Cemetery.
