Mary J. Sandy
Mary J. Sandy, 98, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Four Seasons Living Center.
She was born May 5, 1919, in Sedalia, daughter of Jesse M. Hodler and Jenny Mae (Swisher) Hodler.
On September 4, 1943, in Sedalia, she was married to Ray Lewis Sandy.
Mary worked for Consumer’s Market as a cook and in the bakery for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and liked her dogs. She was a loving and caring person who put others before herself.
Surviving are three children, Sally Crews, of Sedalia, Joyce Sandy, of Jefferson City, and John Sandy, of Sedalia; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Pamela Sandy, Sue Mittenberg and Mary K. Sandy.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.
Casket bearers will be Sarah Crews, Austin Schultz, Brien Crews, Mike Mittenberg, Alex Cramer and John Sandy.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.
