Mary Kay Simons, 71, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home.
She was born January 5, 1950, in Boonville, daughter of the late Norman and Myrtle (Ross) Scotten.
Kay was a 1967 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She worked at Mike O’Connor Chevrolet, where she met the love of her life, Richard Simons, and on June 27, 1970, in Sedalia, they were married. To this union were born two sons, Richie and Randy.
She loved the little children at Horace Mann Elementary where she worked as a para. She was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, enjoyed fishing, collecting Boyd’s Bears, snowmen, Willow Tree angels, and loved flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard; her two sons, Richie Simons (Kori) and Randy Simons; two granddaughters, Tori Simons and Reileigh Simons, all of Sedalia; and a brother, Larry Ross (Rubydene), of Shreveport, LA.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be at Mount Herman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
