Melvin Earl Hotson, Sr., 82, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
He was born June 7, 1938 in Kansas City, MO, a son of Leonard and Mary (Spires) Hotson. On December 5, 1960 in Kansas City, MO, he married Wilma Kaylene Lakey who preceded him in death on June 26, 2020.
Melvin was a member of the Church of God in Eldon, MO. He worked for 30 years as a Waste Treatment Operator for the City of Sedalia. Melvin enjoyed painting pictures and bow hunting.
Survivors include one son, Melvin E. Hotson, II of Overland Park, KS; one daughter, Statia K. Hotson, of Sedalia.
In addition to both of his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Johnny Hotson; and one sister, Mary Alice Collins.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sedalia VFW Post 2591.
