Merle L. Kettle

Merle L. Kettle, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Fair View Nursing Home.

He was born February 28, 1930, in Parsons, KS, the son of Herman and Velma (Clary) Kettle.

Mr. Kettle served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an Electrician First Class on the USS Jason, serving from 1948 to 1952.

On January 1, 1950, he was married to Sally M. Clemons, who preceded him in death in 1998.

He worked in civil service at Whiteman Air Force Base as an electrician and in the water department. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his peaceful nature.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Kettle (Debbie), of Sedalia, and Barry Kettle (Debbie), of Columbia; three grandchildren, Adam, Amy and Jacob; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Bottcher, of Sedalia.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Joe and Leon; and a sister, Elaine.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
