Michael Dean DeGraff, 68, of Sedalia, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1952, in Concordia, KS, the oldest of two sons of the late Clifford and Betty (Wilson) DeGraff.
On June 6, 1976, in Garden City, KS, he married Esther Smith, who survives of the home.
Mike was raised in Kansas and Indiana. He was a graduate of Bedford High School in Bedford, IN. He earned a B.S. in Business and went on to earn his MBA. His work career took the family from Kansas to Oklahoma and finally to Missouri the past 26 years. He marketed asphalt products for Elf Asphalt, Koch Material and most recently Vance Brothers of Kansas City until his retirement in 2015.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and attended Sacred Heart Chapel.
Mike was an avid golfer. He enjoyed being with his grandkids and motorcycle riding. He loved to be outside doing yardwork and hunting. He was a loving, caring, generous, self-less and fun-loving man.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Minneapolis, KS and a member of the Ararat Shrine of Kansas City, MO.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Nathaniel DeGraff, of Springfield and Clifford DeGraff (April), of Columbia; three grandchildren: Mia, Hudson and Ridge; and a brother: Larry Vaughan-DeGraff (Robert), of Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020, at the Sacred Heart Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, with Fr. Joe Corel officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Burial will be held at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS.
Memorials may be given to Ararat Shrine of Kansas City, or to Sacred Heart School, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
