She was born on February 8, 1933 in Dipolog City to Diosdado Romarate and Irenea Campomanes. She married Salvador M. Sumilang from San Pablo, Laguna on July 8, 1954. They had 6 children: Merlie, Danilo, Zaldy, Shirley, Pilar and Naty ; 10 grandchildren: Merven Lou, Mark Dale, Mark Jefferson, Mara Peachy, Cherry Mae (Deceased), Lindy Lou, Dhanny Lou, Christy Lou, Dana Lou, Svend and 12 great grandchildren, who loved her dearly and always called her “LOLA LAGROS.” She had one (1) sister alive, Lourdes, now living with her nieces and nephews, that is, the children of her sister Nicanora Leyson in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
She grew up on an average family, working hard for the education of her children and for their daily basic needs. Her ultimate dreams and strong determination for her children were fulfilled for they all have finished a bachelor’s degree. After struggling for so many years she is now enjoying the remaining of her life travelling in Europe, where Pilar is presently based and Shirley in USA. She is a permanent resident in USA and was able to petition Zaldy and Naty for permanent residency in USA .
She was a mother to everyone to her cousins, uncles, aunties, friends, classmates of her children and even her neighbors. She was a woman of strong faith in her whole life, kind, fighter and a generous person as we have ever known.
She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
We love you Mama Milagros, Rest in Peace.
