Mildred L. Ashbrook, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
Mildred was born on May 30, 1930, in Cole Camp, the daughter of Albert and Mathilda Brockschmidt.
On May 11, 1954, in Jackson, Mississippi, she was united in marriage to Homer Grant Ashbrook, who preceded her in death.
Mildred was a member of Katy Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, antiques, collecting nick-knacks and going to yard sales. She volunteered often at Open Door. She will be remembered as a friendly lady who never knew a stranger. She loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her son, Larry Ashbrook (Sandy), of Farris, TX; two daughters, Sharon Schultz and Mary Comer, both of Sedalia; her stepmother, Emma Brockschmidt, of Sedalia; her sister, Erma Davis, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Brockschmidt.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Jon Church officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Katy Park Baptist Church, Open Door, or Crossroads Hospice.
