Mildred Lee Stilfield, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born on May 19, 1923, in Bunceton, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer and Mayme Strine.
On August 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Charles Stilfield in Maysville, Missouri.
Mildred was a member of the Parkview Christian Church. She was also a member of the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary and was a Sedalia Senior Center Volunteer.
Mildred loved to garden, fish, and cook. She worked as a cook most of her life. She was a cook at Striped College School, owned her own restaurant for several years in Maysville, and eventually retired as the kitchen manager at Bothwell Hotel in 1989.
She will be remembered as kind hearted, loving, and strong willed.
Mildred is survived by a daughter, Jean Ann Davenport, of Sedalia; a son, Wray Stilfield (Cindy), of Sedalia; a daughter-in-law, Nadine Stilfield, of Green Ridge; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Strine and John Strine; two sons, C.A. Stilfield and David Stilfield; a daughter, Kaye Taylor; and a grandson, Allen Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Casket bearers will be Mark Sartain, Matt Sartain, Dane Stilfield, Wayne Williams, Charles Stilfield, Bradlee Stilfield and Eric Stilfield.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Parkview Christian Church.
