In Loving Memory…

Minerva Belle Alcorn, 96, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born July 8, 1917, in Syracuse, daughter of Erven L. and Clara Josephine Rehmer Schroeder. On June 15, 1940, in Sedalia, she married Warren M. Alcorn, who preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Alcorn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gleaner’s Sunday School class. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 57, for over 50 years, holding the office of Esther for over 25 years. She was also a member of TOPS Chapter 958. She enjoyed playing Hand and Foot, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are three children: Sharon Sue Anderson (Jim), of Festus, MO, Clayton W. Alcorn (Lynda), of Sedalia, and Terri Ann Howard, of Sedalia; six grandchildren: Danny, Robynne, Denise, Courtney, Jason and Kevin; 12 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Caroline Baker, of Sedalia, and Rhoda Sue Russell, of Independence.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Marlin Schroeder, Dearl “Doc” Schroeder and James Schroeder; and a sister, Roma Anna Schroeder.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.

Casket bearers will be Danny Alcorn, Jason Howard, Kevin Howard, Len Schroeder, Dan Knipp and Carroll Howard.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with Eastern Star services at 5:00 p.m.
