Nancy Carol Gloth

December 29, 1946 — December 11, 2023

Kansas City, Missouri

Nancy Carol (Davis) Gloth was born at the farm home near Eagleville, Harrison County, MO on Dec. 29, 1946, a daughter, and fourth child of six born to Louis J. Davis and Melville Booher Davis. She passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Saint Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Jackson County, MO after family having time with her, and with her loving son, Dustin, at her side.

Nancy married Ronald Gloth who preceded her in death. Her only child, Dustin Gloth, survives her. Nancy is also survived by her stepdaughter, Deanna Gloth; and step grandchildren. Nancy helped raise all three of her step grandchildren Michelle, Rachelle, and Jeremy.

Growing up, Nancy was a cute little girl and a favorite child of her father. Nancy started the 1st grade at Bush County school, a one room schoolhouse. Later that year the school was consolidated with Eagleville, where Nancy graduated from high school in 1964. She walked to the country school with her older siblings. Later she walked to catch the school bus when the weather was bad as the road to the farm was a dirt road. Nancy grew up helping with the farm chores and gathered the eggs. She was fearless taking the eggs away from the setting hens. Nancy also fed the chickens and milked a cow by hand at a very young age. She found large blacksnakes in the barn and captured them off the rafters. Growing up on Big Creek, many memories were made. She had a love of playing in the creek water with her siblings. In the winter, she enjoyed playing in snow and the ice on Big Creek, the barn yard branch and waterfalls. Nancy loved growing up on the farm and always played outside. She always said she had the best childhood.

After graduation, she went to work in Kansas City, MO. She lived in an apartment with some friends. She got a job at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza and trained to be a Phlebotomy Technician. She went to night school taking college courses, majoring in Biology. She got promoted to Histologist at Saint Luke’s Hospital and worked there for over 30 years. Later she worked at North Kansas City Hospital and retired from Truman Medical Center as a Histologist. Nancy worked until she was almost 70 years of age.

Nancy loved Jesus. Her Bible is full of handwritten notes and marked scriptures. The only overseas trip she ever took was to visit the holy land in Israel.

Additional survivors include brother Jimmie Davis; sisters Shirley Elmore and Helen (Ray) Nichols; and one sister-in-law Mary Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald Davis and Johnnie Davis; stepson David Gloth; sisters-in-law Cheryl Bain, Carol Anderson, Sharon Derkits, Janice Buhlinger and Nancy Lippincott Davis; and brother-in-law Larry Kawiecki.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, Pettis County, MO.
