Norma Joy Vansell, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born May 4, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of the late Milo E. and Marie (Robinson) Morris. On August 16, 1971, in Falls City, NE, she married Ronald K. Vansell, who survives.
Norma was raised Baptist and later became Pentecostal. She worked as a caregiver at the Center for Human Services and had also worked at Lamy’s and sold Home Interior.
She was family oriented and was a loving, beautiful, strong and faithful person.
Norma was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed making flower arrangements, and collected angels, Denim Days and figurines.
In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by five children, Dino Norphy (Kim), of Kyle, TX, Frank Norphy (Sherrie Johnson), of Independence, Dave Norphy (Cindy), of Greenbrier, AR, Deanna Sabin and Rhonda Taylor (Brian), all of Salem, OR; a sister, Becky Briggs, of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Vicki Norphy, Carrie Vansell and LaDonna Hughes; and siblings, Bart Fountain, Evelyn Babcock and Skip Hawks.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating.
Pallbearers will be Todd Hawks, Aaron Balke, Jacob Smothers, Jake Herrick, Larry Babcock, Hayden Herrick, Patrick Paulsen and Brian Paulsen.
Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. There will be a meal following the burial at the Heckart Family Center.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
