Opal Marie Ray, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at home.
She was born September 22, 1932, in Caraway, Arkansas, the daughter of John Cooper Ray and Ora Lee Payne Houchin.
She worked as a cook and also as a seamstress at Bobbi Brooks in Arkansas.
Opal was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, jewelry and rocks. She was known to make you stop the car to dig up a rock to add to her collection. She loved to color, but got the most enjoyment from her grandkids. She considered any child her grandkid.
She is survived by four children, Brenda Sipes (Billy), of Horn Lake, MS, Donny Ray, of Sedalia, Tonya Ray (Laura), of Sedalia, and Kenny Ray, of Sedalia; ten grandchildren, Steve Sipes, Heather Dermody, Jennifer Ray, Dana Sipes, Nicole Williams, Rachel Roll, Nicholas Ray, Kori Shoecraft (Heather), William Rowland and Skylar Ray; 15 great-grandchildren, Austin Shaffer, Maddie Sipes, Levi Ray, Isaiah Ray, Seirra Ray, October Ray, Maggie Miller, Macie Gilleland, Hannah Sipes, Brom Ray, Jackson Ray, Siris Shoecraft, Natalie Thompson, Carmen Ray and Kenzlie Roll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; one granddaughter, Chasitylynn Ray; and one great-grandson, Jacob Miller.
No services are planned.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home.
