Patricia Ann Whitfield, 83, of Hannibal, MO, died Saturday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m. at Luther Manor Retirement Center.

She is survived by a son, Steve Whitfield (Donna), of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Suzy Kaser (Eric), of Frankford, MO and Kim Evans (Cindy Shutts), of Delta, MO; a sister, Jeannie Bodine; and sisters-in-law, Linda Croy, of Bentonville, AR, and Beverly Nelson, of St. Joseph, MO. She loved her family and was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom had received a hand crocheted afghan from her.

Patricia (Patty) was born August 28, 1932, in Sedalia, MO, to Vernon and Fay Taylor Croy. She was united in marriage to Dale Whitfield on December 23, 1951, in Sedalia at Epworth United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2015. Patricia was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joshua Whitfield; and a brother, Dr. James Croy.

Patricia was born and raised in Sedalia, but spent a few years traveling to Kansas, Ohio and the state of Washington with her father’s work during her elementary years. She returned to her hometown and finished Junior High and High School in Sedalia.

After her marriage to Dale and upon his return from serving in the Navy, she traveled across the state of Missouri with his job with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she worked as a secretary at various places over a period of twenty-five years.

In 1983, she and her husband returned to Sedalia where she worked at The Children’s Therapy Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sedalia.

She enjoyed sewing and used her talent to make clothes for her children and gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and donated many baby afghans to Birthright.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m. at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Funeral services will follow at 10:00. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons: Trip Jones, Alan Corley, Louis Kaser, Phillip Kaser, Brian Kaser, Grayson Gregory and Brandon Rose.

Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters; Stephanie Jones, Laura Whitfield, Candice Evans, Alisha Corley, Erin Kaser, Lacey Kaser, Mary Kaser and Joo Won Kaser.
