Patricia Wilfong

Patricia L. Wilfong, 67, of Otterville, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the University Hospital in Columbia, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born May 2, 1951, in Sedalia, the daughter of James Oliver and Geneva (Scott) Caton.  On June 8, 1973, in Otterville, she married Wendell Lloyd Wilfong, who preceded her in death on January 22, 2015.

In her early years, Pat worked at John’s Café. Then, after college, she became a teacher. She taught business for 27 years at Bunceton School. After retiring from Bunceton, she taught GED courses at State Fair Community College for 10 years. She also did bookkeeping for Roadrunner Auto Sales.

Pat was dedicated to her family, always putting her kids and grandkids first. She attended every ball game, school function and any activity they were involved in, no matter when or where. She traveled all over the state to support her sons in their hobbies.

Pat was an integral part of her community and had a servant’s heart. She always put others before herself. She was actively involved with the Lamine River Hunt Club, the Otterville Truck and Tractor Pull and the Otterville Street Fair. She was a member of 40 & 8 Voiture 333, for which she read to area first graders on Flag Day teaching them about the significance of the American flag. She would do anything to help kids. Pat was always the first to volunteer to help with any benefit fundraiser. She will be remembered for her caring, generous nature. Her passing will leave such a void in the community.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Wilfong (Christy) of Otterville, Matt Wilfong (Michelle) of Tipton, Jeff Wilfong (Michelle) of Tipton, Mike Wilfong (Liz Wolfe) of Otterville; 13 grandchildren, Courtney Kunze, Austin Langkop, Drew Williams, Raegan Bowers, Morgan Bowers, Alyssa Maurer, Lain Bowers, Coy Wilfong, Drake Wilfong, Raylyn Wilfong, Jacie Wilfong, Caton Wilfong and Darcy Wilfong; and her brother, Charles Caton of Otterville.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Patrick David Wilfong.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the funeral home, with Rev. Russ Slocum officiating.

Pallbearers will be Russell Mackelden, Wayne Unkle, Pat Ditzfeld, Jason Caton, Jeff McAllister, Mike Ditzfeld, Andy Baker and Doug McAllister.  Honorary bearers will be Bruce McAllister, Greg Ditzfeld and her grandchildren.

Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family with checks made payable to “The Wilfong Family.”
