Paul Edward “Buddy” Baker, 85, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born June 7, 1932, in Otterville, son of Edward Perry Baker and Doris Iris Marie (Forster) Baker.
Buddy was baptized in a creek near Otterville in 1945 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Otterville.
On October 4, 1950, in Otterville, he was married to Norma Delores (Estes), who preceded him in death on July 10, 2007.
Buddy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He worked as a home builder and Union painter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working on lawn mowers, and visiting with friends and neighbors on the front porch. He loved celebrating life with his family.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Kay Lorenz and husband Ron Dean, Joyce Diane Collins and husband Anthony W., all of Sedalia, and Paula Ann Sanders and husband Rick Alan, of Van Buren, MO; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Ethel Landes, of Joplin, MO, and Sandy McDonald, of Cedar Falls, IA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Barbara Stryffler.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.
Casket bearers will be Ron Lorenz, Rick Sanders, John Lorenz, Travis Lorenz, Tony Collins and Travis Nishikawa.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, at the funeral home.
