Perry Keith Legg, 73, of Warsaw, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri.
Born October 31 , 1948 in Bellmont, Illinois, he was one of two children of William Cecil Legg, Jr. and Betty Marie (Love) Legg.
Perry served in the United State Army in the Vietnam War. He served with the 25
th
Infantry as Convoy Commander transporting supplies into the fields to his fellow soldiers. He was a member of the American Legion.
Perry was a Missouri State Park Ranger for the Department of Natural Resources for 25 years. During those years he received the Missouri State Ranger of the Month award twice and multiple awards for his marksmanship.
He sent his dog, Houston, to school to train as a drug dog. Perry served as a Benton County Reserve Deputy and used Houston for the county and was Benton County’s first drug dog. He also used Houston occasionally for the Park Rangers.
Perry enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, he created the Double XL Catfish Guide Service, and loved to fish in his pond that he stocked himself.
Surviving are his wife Rita; stepdaughter Becky Seibert (Mike); granddaughter Emily Black (Chris); great-grandson River Black; sister Donna Kimbrell; and five nephews Mark, Stanley, Michael, Steven and Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
