Phyllis Jean Richards, 79, of Cole Camp, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born January 8, 1935, in Morgan County, daughter of Charles Gregory and Dimple Maness Combs, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Richards was a Registered Nurse at Bothwell Regional Health Center for 40 years. She completed her nurse’s training at St. Luke’s Hospital in 1957. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cole Camp.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanie Hill (Jim), of Cole Camp; a son, Charles “Tom” Florez (Penny), of Cole Camp; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Melody Richards; a sister, Patricia Pennell, of Independence; and a brother, Glendon Combs (Barbara), of Willow Springs; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Audrey Self.
She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bryan Pennell; and two nephews, Brent Pennell and Steve Combs.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, at Heckart Funeral Home, with George Colbert officiating.
Casket bearers will be Randy Florez (grandson), Nicholas Caton (grandson), Joel Florez (grandson), Jay Pennell (nephew), Jim Combs (nephew), and Gaylon Ritzo (grandson-in-law).
Honorary bearers will be granddaughters: Bonnie Jonson, Karrah Florez, Amy Ritzo and Stephanie Edwards, Tiera Caton and Maureen Florez.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery near Florence.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, at Heckart Funeral Home.
