In Loving Memory

Preston Stone Tuttle, 83, of Bryson City, N.C., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his son’s home in Sedalia, MO.

He was born October 7, 1929, in Meadows, N.C., son of James Watt and Madge Ezell Sparks Tuttle. On July 2, 1956, in Fort Benning, GA, he married Euadean Hooper, who survives of the home.

Mr. Tuttle retired from the U.S. Army after 21 year of service, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean War and during the Vietnam War period. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord and devoted member and deacon of Harmony Baptist Church in Bryson City. He helped establish a Little League program in Bryson City. After retiring from the Army, he worked as Chief Jailer for the Swain County Sheriff’s Department, where he was also involved in the jail ministry. He was a hard worker.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two children, Scott Tuttle, and his wife, Rhonda, of Sedalia, and Ritchie Dale Tuttle, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jada, Caleb and Joshua; a sister, Madeline Smith, of Greensboro, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.

Memorial services will be announced soon and will be held at Harmony Baptist Church in Bryson City.
