Ray D. Haley, 80, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
He was born May 15, 1941, in Sedalia, son of the late William Ray and Marjorie Dean (Walk) Haley. He met the love of his life, Jonetta Curry, and they were united in marriage on October 5, 1963, in Hughesville.
Ray was a 1959 graduate of Houstonia High School. He attended Missouri Valley College, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and accounting.
He served his country honorably in the US Navy 1966-1967 during the Vietnam War.
Ray began his 34 year career with Alcan Cable as a machine operator in 1968. He advanced to various management positions with the company and served the last 11 years as plant manager of the Sedalia location until his retirement in 2002.
He was an active member of the community and served on boards in various capacities including Union Savings Bank, Sedalia Pettis County Economic Development, United Way and Center for Human Services. In 2017, Ray received a Lifetime Achievement Award for 25 years of service to the Center for Human Services.
Ray enjoyed golfing, getting together with the “Friday Lunch Group”, and watching CNN.
He is survived by his wife, Jonetta Haley; and a son, William Douglas Haley, and his wife, Donna, all of Sedalia.
In lieu of flowers and memorial donations, the family requests your presence at a Celebration of Ray’s Life, Saturday, May 7, 2022, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Sedalia Country Club.
Private family graveside service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
