Raymon Richard Hargrave, Jr., 87, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born October 24, 1930, in Austinville, AL, son of Raymon Richard Hargrave Sr. and Edna Mae (Roper) Hargrave.
On December 24, 1954, in Kansas City, KS, he was married to Mildred Louise Pettis, who died February 10, 2008.
Mr. Hargrave served twenty years in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then worked for the United States Postal Service before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, watching football, basketball and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed spending time at the Shrine Club playing darts or dominoes. He was a proud grandpa to seventeen grandchildren and he enjoyed visiting with and serving them.
Surviving are three sons: Richard D. Hargrave (Janice), of Sedalia, Samuel J. Hargrave (Robin), of Sedalia, and Raymon B. Hargrave (Kelly), of Warrensburg; seventeen grandchildren: Thomas, Samuel, Christopher (Erica), Matthew (Laura), Daniel (Regan), Marie (Job), John (Raeshelle), Abigail (Stephen), Luke, Jennifer, Andrew (Ginger), Rachel (Adam), James (Tia), Philip, Nathan (Kaylyn), Joseph and Amy; twelve great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Aubrey (Edward), of Marco Island, FL.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cross and Dorothy Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Pastor Craig Bowen officiating.
Casket bearers and honorary bearers will be grandchildren.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, at Heckart Funeral Home.
