Raymond Keneth “Pops” Duren, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his home.
He was born November 17, 1938, in Fresno, CA, son of the late Russell and Mildred (Frisby) Duren. On December 25, 1976, in Fresno, CA, he married Linda Diane Short, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2012.
Raymond served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962 and was stationed in San Francisco. He earned the rank of E3.
He was a contractor by trade and retired from Tanglewood Construction.
He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His specialty was archery and in his retirement years, he worked at Tree Stand Archery. He was also a lover of dogs.
Pops was a loving husband and father. He was very outgoing, loved life and loved to teach. He was a good mentor and would go out of his way to help anyone.
Survivors include four children, Joe Duren, of Fresno, CA, Adam Duren (Cindy), of Sedalia, Shawn Duren, of Cole Camp, and Michelle Hendricks (Tommy), of Sedalia; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joanne Smith, of Wewoka, OK and Bonnie Justin, of Fresno, CA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Duren; a daughter, Melissa Clemmons; and a brother, Danny Duren.
A Celebration of Life gathering will begin at 10:00 am Monday, June 19, 2023, at Centennial Park.
Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy, VFW Post 2591, and the Patriot Guard.
