Richard Dale “Dick” Setzer, 87, of Green Ridge, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born February 20, 1931, in Kansas City, MO, the son of John R. and Hattie Fern (Mosier) Setzer.

On August 27, 1955, in Ballard, MO, he married Ruby (Hudson), who preceded him in death on June 24, 2016. They were married in Ruby’s parents’ home by her dad.

Richard served in the infantry in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in the motor pool and earned medals for marksmanship.

Richard worked as an auto mechanic for twenty years. He then worked in maintenance at state parks for twenty-one years. He also farmed since 1971.

After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are three children: Roger Setzer (Celia), of Green Ridge, Dewayne Setzer (Sonia), of Sedalia, and Ronda Mattingly (Jim), of Sedalia; six granddaughters, Kara, Krista, Amber, Sarah, Samantha and Tricia; a grandson, Larry; seven great-grandchildren; five siblings: Ronnie, Anita, Margie, Evelyn, Lois Marie; sister-in-law, Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Datha, Norene, Kenneth and Charlie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Boatright officiating.

Casket bearers will be Jim Mattingly, Tom Paul, Tim Setzer, Andy Setzer, Tony Caldwell and Eric Collins.

Honorary bearers will be Larry Boatright, John Southard and Dick’s granddaughters.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near Manila. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Antioch Cemetery or the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
