Richard Eugene “Dick” Duggan, 78, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home.

He was born October 12, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, son of Donald Eugene and Myrtle Ruth (Benton) Duggan. On April 2, 2011, in Sedalia, he was married to Eleanore R. “Elle” Wasson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Duggan was an attorney in Kansas City and Sunrise Beach before retiring. He earned his law degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City. He authored seven novels and developed a card game called Pokagin, as well as some board games. He invented an automatic attic staircase and was always thinking up new and innovative creations.

He was involved in community theater in Texas. He enjoyed playing golf and pool, following sports, playing Bridge, Dominoes and Scrabble, carpentry and woodworking. He sang in church choirs and in men’s music groups. He was an avid bowler, having achieved a perfect 300 game.

He attended Mt. Herman Baptist Church and was a member of the Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club, Duplicate Bridge Club and Moose Lodge 1494.

In addition to his wife, Elle, survivors include three children, Karen M. Edwards, and her husband, Bob, of Sedalia, Sheryl K. Adamson, and her husband, Ron, of Roach, MO, and Ronald P. Duggan, and his wife, Nicole, of Camdenton; three step-children, Dr. Deanna Nelson, and her husband, Richard, of Green Ridge, Denise Vaughan, and her husband, Rick, of Kansas City, and Amanda Blackburn, and her husband, Paul, of Sedalia; 13 grandchildren, John Miller, Adam Campbell, Tomia Smith, Kelly Gorham, Michael Duggan, Mark Duggan, Brooklyn Duggan, Mariah Walter, Colton Walter, Robbie Nelson, Reed Nelson, Trenton Goss and Tyler Goss; seven great-grandchildren, Keelan, Alyssa, Shelby, Gavin, Conner, Alayna and Lilly; two sisters, Donna Ray, of Overland Park, KS, and Kathy Kitchings, and her husband, Tom, of Oak Island, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald Duggan.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO, with the Rev. Robert Sisney officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Lighthouse Mission in Camdenton, Sedalia-Pettis County United Way, or Mt. Herman Baptist Church.
