Richard J. Loftus

Richard Joseph Loftus of Dallas, Texas passed away on July 9, 2018, at the age of 90. He was born on February 2, 1928, to John and Arvilla (Goodall) Loftus in Tama, Iowa, and graduated from Tama High School in 1947. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Mary Anna Arndt on August 3, 1954, in Fairfield, Iowa. Richard and his family lived in Tama, Iowa, until 1970. In December 1970, his family moved to Sedalia, Missouri, where Richard was a longtime businessman and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After retirement, Richard and Mary moved to Dallas, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Anna Loftus of Dallas, Texas; children, Michael Loftus and wife, Ellen of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Richard Loftus and wife, Joyce of Oakley, Kansas, Steven Loftus and wife, Teresa of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Daniel Loftus and wife, Katie of Hays, Kansas, Diane Jennings and husband, Bob of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John Loftus and wife, Kim of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Patricia Gum and husband, Trey of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Joseph Loftus and wife, Tiffany of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Kathy Kohler and husband, Spencer of Dallas, Texas, and Julie Pattison and husband, Brian of Fairfax County, Virginia; son-in-law, James Pair of Stilwell, Kansas; brother, Patrick Loftus and wife, Sharon of Naples, Florida; thirty-one grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie Pair; brother, Jack Loftus; and sisters, Gloria Kirkaldy and Yvonne Loftus.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75220.

Interment will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri.
