Richard Dale “Rick” Chancellor, 60, of Smithton, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at his home with his family.
He was born May 28, 1954, in Sedalia, son of Robert Dowl and Opal Irene West Chancellor.
Rick married Becky Kane on December 27, 1977, in Sedalia.
He worked for Webb & Sons for 23 years, where he held many positions before becoming manager at several of the Bings locations. Wanting to be able to spend more time with his children and their active lives, he chose to start his own business on the farm. He operated a poultry farm for 10 years. He will be remembered for his hard and dedicated work ethic which he instilled to those around him. He was always available any time of day or night to field questions via phone calls from any one because everyone knew that he would be awake to take them. He put more miles on his trucks than anyone could ever imagine but never traveled more than 10 miles from home.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his greatest joy, his four children: Steven (Jillayne) of Purdy, MO, Julie Whitaker (Josh) of Odessa, MO, Tim (Jessica) of Linn Creek, MO and Bradley (Jennifer) of Sedalia, MO. Rick became a grandfather (Poppa) to eight grandchildren who were responsible for bringing a smile to his face just talking about them. Lane Chancellor, Chase Chancellor, Reed Chancellor, Jackson Whitaker, Emma Whitaker, Clay Chancellor, Josey Chancellor and Connor Chancellor; a brother, Robert Chancellor (Debby), of Sedalia; and one sister, Brenda Cromley (Ken), of Sedalia.
He was preceded in death by his father.
