Robert A. “Buck” Taylor

Robert Arhart “Buck” Taylor, 90, of LaMonte, passed away, Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born July 11, 1925, in Beaman, son of Roy Lewis and Lora Margaret Fisher Taylor and grandson of Andrew Jackson Taylor.

On October 2, 1953, in Centertown, he was united in marriage to Virginia Elizabeth Ann Shepherd, when she was just a young, sweet girl. The romance lasted through richer and poorer, illness and health, joy and tears, and everything in between. They were blessed with four children; Ruth Ferguson (Bill), Robert Roy Taylor, William Nathan Taylor (Penny), and Daniel Chester Taylor (Denise), all of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Tara Aeschbacher, Brandon Taylor, Lora Shireman, Nathan Taylor, Beth Huddleston and Shelly Taylor; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Ruth Taylor, Jewell Fowler and Joe and Forest Taylor.

Robert was the ultimate in everything, farming from daylight to dark and beyond, a successful businessman, starting Robert Taylor Insurance in 1982 with four farmers and growing the business to insuring over 400 farmers today. He had the most honest and strongest work ethic you would ever find, a sense of humor that would light up a room, strong arms that hugged as well as they plowed a field and a heart so big there wasn’t a neighbor or stranger he wouldn’t help at the drop of a hat.

Robert served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was a member of VFW Post 2591, American Legion, where he served as commander and member of Sedalia Lodge #236 AF and AM.

Robert’s biggest joy came from his family, watching them all grow with pride.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Morse officiating.

Casket bearers will be John Fowler, Andy Sevy, David Taylor, Tom Taylor, Eddie Hottinger and Jack Hall.

Sedalia #236 will conduct Masonic services at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home.

Burial will be at LaMonte Cementery with full military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

Memorials are suggested to LaMonte Cemetery in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
