Robert Burk “Bob” Cross, Sr., 96, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018, in Sedalia.

He was born July 7, 1922, in Sedalia, son of Ralph E. Cross and Edna Mae (Burk) Cross.

He married Frances E. Ratje on January 11, 1941. To this marriage four children were born: Robert B. Cross Jr., Sharon Kay Neth, Gerald W. Cross and Christine Y. Mathews.

He was married to Mable Kramer on June 21, 1976. To this union one daughter was born: Candie Lynn Fisher.

He was married to Floy Taylor on June 7, 2008. He has two step daughters: Donna Harris and Pam Eikerman.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 38 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, raising cattle, playing shuffleboard, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and dancing with Floy. In earlier years, he and his brother Jack were two of the best crappie fisherman in the area. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and the 40 & 8.

Surviving are his wife, Floy, of the home; four children, Robert B. Cross Jr. (Ruth), of Sedalia, Gerald W. Cross, of Sedalia, Christine Y. Mathews (Ron), of Smithton, and Candie L. Fisher, of Kansas; two step-daughters, Donna Harris and Pam Eikerman; nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Frances Cross and Mable Cross; daughter, Sharon Kay Neth; and two brothers, Ralph Cross Jr. and Jack Cross.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Rehmer officiating.

Casket bearers will be Stormy Smith, Robby Cross, Steve Cross, Angel Mathews, Neal Mathews and Tarah Fisher.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
