Rev. Robert E. Dumsday, 69, of Sedalia, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 16, 2016, at California Care Center.
He was born October 22, 1947, in Sedalia, son of John William Dumsday and Anna Laura Steele Dumsday. On September 6, 1977, in Oregon, IL, he was married to Bessie C. Peters, who survives of the home.
Robert served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Robert was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God, where he was a member and formerly served as associate pastor. He was involved in various missions with the church. Robert loved people, helping them in any way he could and loved sharing the gospel of Jesus with everyone. He especially loved his two sons and was so proud of them.
He had many talents. He could fix almost anything, and especially enjoyed working on old cars. He owned two ’56 Mercurys. He was a licensed master mechanic. He was also talented at making crafts and silk flower arrangements, having worked at Archias Floral before retirement. He loved old music of all kinds, the louder the better. He also enjoyed gardening.
Robert graduated from State Fair Community College, with an AAS in Business. He was an excellent mathematician.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by two sons, Robert E. Dumsday II (Angela), of Tipton, and Richard Dale Dumsday, of Sedalia; a grandson, Robert E. Dumsday III, of Tipton; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Dumsday; and his furry friends which include, Smoke, Rocket and Floppy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John William Dumsday.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, at the Cowboy Church in Tipton, with the Rev. Larry Marriott officiating.
Casket bearers will be Robert Dumsday II, Richard Dumsday, Robert Dumsday III, John Dumsday III, Gerald “Joe” Hamby Jr. and Pat Elwood.
Honorary bearers will be Sara Baker, Jimmy Dumsday, Andy Peters and Glenn “Buck” Banner.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
