Rodney Allen Gibson, 57, of Sedalia, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 28, 2018, in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born May 28, 1961, in Sedalia, son of Marvin Edwin and Sandra June (Baker) Gibson.
Rodney was a graduate of Smithton High School and attended Central Missouri State University. He worked most of his life in construction. He enjoyed traveling and visiting Civil War battlefields. His favorite hobby was racing; a passion he shared with his son Chase and many friends. He loved his children very much. Rodney was an easy going, down to earth guy who was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are three children, Zachary Gibson, of Oxnard, CA, Natasha Howard, of Kansas City, and Bailey Gibson, of Sedalia; his parents, Marvin and Sande Gibson, of Warsaw; and four siblings, Karla Billings, of Topeka, KS, Chris Gibson, of Hastings, MN, Dean Gibson, of York Town, IN, and Micki Lane, of Ozark, MO.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chase Gibson.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at Heckart Funeral Home. There will be an informal time for sharing of memories after the family has greeted all friends. Please wear your favorite racing, Mizzou, Royals or Chiefs attire.
Memorials may be given to Heckart Funeral Home. Anything collected above funeral expenses will be donated to a charity close to Rodney’s heart.
