Roger Samuel Kropf, beloved husband of Mary Beth (Hostetler) Kropf, was born Feb. 5, 1966, to Eugene and Luella Kropf at Springfield, MO.
God called Roger home on May 9, 2014, at the age of 48 years, 3 months, and 4 days, following a farm accident. He was working by himself, planting corn at a rented farm about 28 miles from home. He was found several hours later by his son and wife, after not coming home when expected, and not answering his phone. He was pinched under the planter and life had fled.
He accepted Christ in his youth and was a faithful member of the Olive Hill Amish Mennonite Church.
On April 2, 1985, he was united in marriage to Mary Hostetler, daughter of Paul and Orpha Hostetler, at Mena, AR, sharing the joys and sorrows of married life for over 29 years.
In Jul. of 1971, he moved with his parents to Mena, AR. After getting married and being blessed with several children, he moved with his young family to Sedalia, MO, in Dec. of 1994, where he resided at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Mary, 7 children, Morris and wife Lynette, Sedalia, MO, Marty and wife April, Sedalia, MO, Kent and wife Kaitlyn, Sedalia, MO, Kayla and husband Alex Kempf, Hughesville, MO, Kody, Kelli, and Kendra of the home. He was preceded in death by a stillborn son, daughter-in-law, Ella Mae, wife of Morris, his parents-in-law, Paul and Orpha Hostetler, his grandparents, Joe and Alice Kropf, Harold and Florence Knox, 4 uncles and 4 aunts.
He always gladly gave his time and counsel when his family came to him for advice, always encouraging them to come anytime- day or night, with their problems.
Roger had many friends, near and far, and was known for his friendliness and hospitality. He had a great love for singing and spent many hours singing by himself, or with whoever would join him. They were also youth leaders, giving singing lessons, besides spending time with them otherwise. They were much appreciated for giving their time and themselves.
Our Pop was really concerned about our young folks. So we plead with you to make anything right that’s between you and your Dad! Tell him you love him and you appreciate him! Just remember he can be taken from you without a warning.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Olive Hill Amish Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Olive Hill Amish Mennonite School. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family expresses a heartfelt Thank You to each and everyone for the help, expressions of sympathy, prayer and support, through this difficult time. Please continue to pray!
