Ronald L. Dawson

Ronald Lee Dawson, 64, of Florence, MO, passed away October 31, 2019 at University Hospital, Columbia, MO.

Ron was born October 19, 1955 in Sedalia, MO and was the son of Marvin Lee “Newt” Dawson and Betty Ann (McLaughlin) Dawson.

On September 2, 1978 Ron married Vickie Diane Glidewell in La Monte, MO with family and close friends.

Throughout his working career, Ron worked in many different occupations. Ron worked for the Laborers Union and in construction. Subsequently he was a Guys route man, followed by many years in the telecommunications industry with MCI, AT&T, etc. Eventually he became an entrepreneur, owning and operating the Florence Trading Post, and in his most successful years owned and operated numerous businesses and engaged in various enterprises.

He was always happiest with activities such as gun and bow hunting, fishing, gardening, arrowhead hunting, music and soccer. He always loved talking with his old and new friends. Ron could always walk into a new situation, strike up a conversation, find a new friend, and have something in common with them. Family was his biggest consideration and he loved being a member of the Sedalia Elks Lodge.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Lee “Newt” Dawson; his mother, Betty Ann (McLaughlin) Dawson; his older sister, Patsy Lee Hicks; and his younger brother, David Eugene Dawson.

Those of us that remain here are his wife, Vickie Diane Dawson and their daughter, Sheena Ann Marie (Dawson) Rauhoff. Sheena is married to Timothy Rauhoff of Nashville, TN and have our beautiful grandson, Liam Elias Rauhoff. Also surviving are one sister, Jeannie Gladys Edwards; one niece, Shelley Hicks; and two nephews, JR Hicks and Tanner Cole Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Bremer, David Moore, Jimmy George Cramer, Robert “Bobby” Elderkin (of Beverly, MA), Phillip Medford and Tanner Edwards.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
