Rose Rush-Sipes, age 93, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born January 2, 1931, in rural Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri, a daughter of the late Dewey Jesse and Maggie (Beyer) Geiser.
Rose was baptized October 26, 1941, in a creek. She graduated from VanNatta grade school in 1945 and Green Ridge High School in 1949.
On September 18, 1949, at Dresden Baptist Church, Rose was married to Charles A. Rush, who passed away May 1995. On July 14, 1990, she married Lyle Sipes, who passed away June 2000.
Rose was a charter member of Emmet Avenue Baptist Church where through the years served as pianist, church clerk, adult ladies and youth Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director and teacher and co-teacher of the Sunbeams.
Rose kept books for Mo-Pac Employees Credit Union and retired from Falcon Cable in 1996. She also worked in the meat department at Bing’s and Safeway.
She enjoyed playing the piano, games, Scrabble, working jigsaw puzzles, baking pies and delivering them to shut-ins and friends.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Fiedler (Otis), Laurine Todd (William), Evelyn Geiser, in infancy; and brother, Robert Geiser (Rose Ann).
Survivors include son, Michael Wayne Rush (Sheila); daughter, Audrey Elaine Rush (Monty Laughery); grandson Jeremy Rush (Genessa); granddaughter, Miranda Biesemeyer; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Barnes (Sam) and Whitney Miyasaki (Nathan); three great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Heckart Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rush, Tim Horn, Earl Fiedler, Bill Winfrey, Joe Kowalski, Terry Rush, Jack Horn, Jim Randall and Carson Wehr.
Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Dresden Cemetery Association or Emmet Avenue Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home.
