Rosie Evalena Garrigus Farris Carver, 92, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs.

She was born May 2, 1925, in Reed Springs, MO, the daughter of Jessie Thomas Garrigus and Dora Fuller Carver. In March 1933, she was adopted by Dell and Lizzie Farris.

On December 27, 1941, in Sedalia, she was married to William Leo Carver, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2003.

Mrs. Carver was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Florence, as well as the Auxiliary of the VFW and DAV. She worked at Lamy’s, Inter-State Studio and Smithson’s Quilting Factory in Stover. She enjoyed being with her family, reading, sewing and helping on the farm.

Survivors include a son, William Leo Carver Jr. and wife Rhonda, of Smithton; a daughter, Linda Rose House and husband Carl, of Centertown; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, John McFail, of Houstonia, and Thomas McFail, of Otterville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Dale Carver; five sisters, Joice McFail, Bertha Dellenbaugh, Luvena Reynolds, Marie Hughes and Mitzie Gildersleeve; six brothers, William Garrigus, James Garrigus, Arthur Lewis, Glenn McFail, Jessie McFail and Edgar McFail.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, at Bethlehem Baptist Church near Florence, with the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating.

Casket bearers will be Lance Williams, Scott Roark, Zach Roark, Tony Carver, Kelly Carver and Tyler Carver.

Honorary bearers will be Shawn Roark and Robert Rages.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army or Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
