Ruby L. Setzer

Ruby Lou Setzer, 79, of Green Ridge, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

She was born April 9, 1937, in Harrison County, MO, daughter of Corydon and Lula Long Hudson. On August 27, 1955, at her parents’ home in Ballard, MO, she was married by her father to Richard Dale Setzer, who survives of the home.

Ruby was a 1955 graduate of Ballard High School. She worked at International Shoe in Windsor and then at Lamy Manufacturing in Sedalia, until her retirement. Mrs. Setzer was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, collecting rooster figurines, sewing and reading. Ruby loved her family, especially her grandkids, and she loved being on the farm.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, survivors include three children, Roger Setzer (Celia), of Green Ridge, Dewayne Setzer (Sonia), of Sedalia, and Ronda Mattingly (Jim), of Sedalia; five granddaughters, Kara, Krista, Amber, Sarah and Samantha; two step grandchildren, LaTrisha and Larry; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Jones, of Parkville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McCartney.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Hankins officiating.

Casket bearers will be Tom Paul, Dale Adams, Jim Mattingly, Dave Mitchell, Darby Sharp, Tim Caldwell, Tony Caldwell and Don McCartney.

Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.

Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are recommended to Antioch Cemetery or Antioch Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
