Ruel Owen Harvey, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Sedalia.
He was born May 7, 1927, in Adair County, KY, a son of James T. and Virginia (Janes) Harvey.
At 2 years of age they moved to Summit, IL, and lived there for 26 years. Ruel married Corrine Lind on December 31, 1948. He worked as a mechanic for over 30 years, with 15 years being with Waste Management. Ruel served in the United States Army. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sedalia Moose Lodge, and the IAM (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers). In 1988 they moved to Missouri and Corrine “Corky” passed away in 2006. After retirement he enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks. Later in 2008 Ruel married Virginia Barrett and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2021.
Survivors include one son, Jim Harvey and his wife Nancy of Ankeny, IA; two grandchildren, Robert Harvey and Faith Wallis; one great-grandchild, Sandra Wallis.
In addition to both of his parents and his wives he was preceded in death by one brother, Nathan B. Harvey.
Ruel’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. Inurnment will be held later at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, IL. Memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church and may be left in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO.
