Ruth Ann Bray

Ruth Ann Bray, 55, of Otterville, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Otterville.

She was born November 4, 1958, in Pekin, IL, daughter of Herman J. and Marjorie M. Smith Reissen. On June 1, 1984, in Salt Lake City, UT, she married Russell L. Bray, who survives of the home.

Ruth Ann earned an Associate’s degree from State Fair Community College and a Bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University. She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.

Mrs. Bray taught Kindergarten at Otterville School for 32 years. She had a special love for children and had a very gentle and caring way. She was loved by her many students over the years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions.

She enjoyed music. She had a beautiful voice and played trumpet. She sang in the Independence Messiah Choir. She also enjoyed baking, catering, traveling, embroidery, drawing, and caring for animals and plants.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sisters, Martha M. Reissen, of Sedalia, and Mary J. Reissen, of Salt Lake City; an aunt, Mary Holtzman, of Great Bend, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Reissen.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, at the Otterville High School Gymnasium.

Casket bearers will be Tim Reissen, John Reissen, Johnny Sprague, Rick Lull, Kerry Lull, Bob Reissen, Dennis Thornton and Jeff Page.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, at Heckart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Otterville School for the benefit of the students.
