Ruth Ann Leicher

Ruth Ann Leicher, 80, of Hughesville, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Nebraska on March 18, 1937, the daughter of Sirel Thomas and Lucille Mae Potter Todd.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Otto Leicher, on June 26, 1955, in Sedalia.

As Melvin began farming Ruth Ann was there to help. She was very active in the Hughesville community. She served on the Northwest High School Alumni Committee and was a member of the FAT club. She loved watching hummingbirds and raising peacocks, making beautiful arrangements from their feathers. She enjoyed bowling, painting and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching the reward of work, by helping them sell sweet corn from her garden and letting them have the money earned. Holidays were always a special time at Ruth Ann’s when the family came together.

Ruth Ann was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and was part of the United Methodist Women.

She will be remembered as loving, caring and kind.

In addition to her husband, Melvin, she is survived by three children, Debbie Hoskins (Glen), of Hughesville, David Leicher (Sherry), of Nelson, and Daren Leicher (Lori), of Hughesville; 12 grandchildren, Jared, Justin, Jacob, Jessica, Jonathan, Jordan, McKenzie, Krista, Guy, Sonya, Truman and Colt; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Todd and Dennis Todd; and three sisters, Sharon Lour, Denise Burton, and Marva Hepburn.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Darrel Todd.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wesley Wingfield officiating.

Casket bearers will be grandsons: Justin Hoskins, Jacob Hoskins, Jonathan Leicher, Jordan Leicher, Truman Leicher and Colt Leicher.

Honorary bearers will be Everett and Jan Blackburn, and Harry Joe and Frances Runge.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the funeral home.
