Ryan William Cunningham, 34, of Oxnard, CA, formerly of Hughesville, MO, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, while on vacation in Mexico.

He was born July 1, 1983, in Sedalia, MO, son of Rick and Dawn (Griffin) Cunningham.

Ryan was a 2001 graduate of Northwest High School and a 2005 graduate of University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration.

On August 10, 2013, in St. Joseph, MI, he was married to Leonie VanderHoff. Together they have two daughters.

Ryan worked as a hotel executive at various locations across the United States for many years and was most recently employed as the director of rooms for Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in Ojai, CA.

Ryan loved being a dad and spending time with his daughters. He was passionate about everything he did and found purpose in everything. He was a hard worker and will be remembered for being warm, kind, considerate and generous. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.

Surviving are his wife, Leonie; two daughters, Hanna and Grace; his mother, Dawn Cunningham, of Hughesville; his sister, Ashley Cunningham (Shaina Smith), of Kansas City; his brother, Trevor Cunningham (Lorelei), of Sedalia; his maternal grandmother, Lois Griffin, of Sedalia; and Leonie’s family who loved him as their own.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Cunningham; his maternal grandfather, Gary Griffin; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Cunningham.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian McNally, Joseph Enayati, Luke VanderHoff and Joost Ploegmakers.
